Maybank, a leading Malaysian bank, has announced to award full scholarships worth RM3.54 million to 20 local students enabling these students to continue their education at top universities around the world. This is the first time that Maybank has announced full scholarships for overseas studies.
The universities where the students would be able to pursue different programs include Imperial College London, London School of Economics, University of Chicago, United States and University of Melbourne in Australia.
Maybank currently has 125 students under local scholarship program. Till date, the bank has sponsored more than 1,000 students.
Maybank Chief Executive Officer and President Datuk Seri Abdul Wahid Omar said the bank, which is celebrating the 39th year of its scholarship scheme, was offering the full scholarships for the first time for overseas studies.
Maybank Scholarship includes full sponsorship (tuition fees, accommodation, laptop and allowances) and employment with Maybank after studies.
The scholarships were given based on merit to deserving students, he said at the scholarship award ceremony here.
