The Skoll Foundation will extend its association and support for a film program for the next few years. The foundation will donate $1 million to Stories of Change: Social Entrepreneurship in Focus Through Documentary program that is being implemented in partnership with the Sundance Institute’s Documentary Film Program.
Started in 2007, the Stories of Change program offers needy groups funding for projects they want to accomplish. Those leading the initiative are hoping to offer people a chance to share their story.
“The Stories of Change partnership has resulted in inspiring collaborations between leading documentary filmmakers and social entrepreneurs, including feature documentary films, presentations and consultancies, which forefront the power of storytelling to transform understanding and motivate people towards change,” said Cara Mertes, director of the Sundance Institute Documentary Film Program.
The Skoll Foundation has donated funds to other causes in recent months. In July, it donated $1.6 million to the Amazon Conservation Team in hopes of preserving the natural beauty of the land.
