Worldwide Initiatives for Grantmaker Support (WINGS) is seeking nominations for the upcoming Board elections. The nominees WINGS is looking for are expected to be experienced, committed and skilled individuals to lead it into the future.
WINGS is a global network that seeks to strengthen philanthropy and a culture of giving through mutual learning and support, knowledge sharing and professional development among its participants. Members in WINGS are grantmaker associations, support organizations and emerging philanthropic initiatives.
Profile of the Nominees
To ensure that the organization is governed by excellence and vision and that key strategic priorities of the organization are addressed, we are seeking nominations from candidates whose collective backgrounds encompass a mix of the following (please note – not all of these are requirements for each candidate):
- Governance expertise and experience, including familiarity with financial systems and planning;
- High level understanding of organizational development and effectiveness
- Demonstrated leadership in the philanthropy and/or non-profit field, with an understanding of global philanthropy issues;
- Ability to commit time and resources to serve on the Board, committees, and represent WINGS, as requested;
- A team player with connections to networks and organizations working on the philanthropy and nonprofit fields;
- Specific areas of expertise or experience might also include: membership development, fundraising and fund development, communications and marketing, information technology and social media skills.
Additional Requirements
- Have institutional and individual credibility in the philanthropy sector at national, regional and/or international levels;
- Have experience at managerial levels and/or as a member of boards of directors;
- Have demonstrated a commitment to WINGS’ mission, vision, values and programs;
- Are fluent English speakers.
- Broadly representative of WINGS’ global reach and geographic diversity; high priority will be given to nominees who are representatives from Asia-Pacific Region, Africa and Europe;
- Broadly representative of WINGS’ membership composition (by institutional type, geographical location, etc.);
- Diverse in terms of gender, age, race, ethnicity and cultural background.
- Diverse in terms of experience and talents.
