All eligible applicants are invited to submit applications for Visiting Fellowship scheme offered by Urban Studies Foundation. The goal of this program is to to expand theoretical and empirical understanding of the major social, economic, political and other problems associated with the rapid processes of urban growth in the global south.
This Fellowship covers the costs of a sabbatical period for an established early career urban scholar currently working in a university/research institution within the global south to have a sabbatical period at a university in the global north to write up research findings in the form of publishable articles or a book under the guidance of a chosen mentor in their field of study. Funding is available for a period ranging between 3-9 months.
Eligibility & Criteria-
- Applicants must be early career urban scholars with a PhD obtained within the preceding 5 years who currently work in a university or other research institution within the global south. Some experience in publishing articles would be desirable.
- PhD in a relevant subject awarded within the last 5 years. Relevant disciplines include geography, political science, economics, sociology, demography, planning though this list is not exhaustive.
- Originality and the quality of the proposed sabbatical research
- Previous academic achievements. The successful candidate is likely to have a track record of giving papers at international conferences and of publishing articles (preferably as a sole author) in ISI-rated international journals.
- Reasonable proposed budget
- Currently resident in a country in the Global South and have an affiliation with a university or other higher education institution there, eg as a lecturer.
