USAID is accepting grant applications from local NGOs to implement ‘Leadership in Economic Governance’ 2014 project in Ukraine. The major aim of Leadership in Economic Governance program is to improve the country’s business enabling environment in line with the EU principles and practices by leveraging local organizations which have recognized technical proficiency and knowledge, and to strengthen the capacity of those organizations to identify policy corrections and motivate concrete institutional reforms. the projects developed should contribute to fulfilling Ukraine’s Economic Reform Agenda 2010-2014, particularly, the objectives of ‘Sustainable Economic Development’ and ‘Improving Business Climate and Attracting Investment’.
Eligibility Criteria –
- Local NGO with demonstrated capacity to identify and advocate for substantive, achievable improvements in the business environment; and manage and be responsible for activities of the recipient partner organizations that jointly pursue those improvements is eligible to apply for the grant program.
The recipient shall build on the achievements of predecessor projects, and coordinate with the current projects to design and implement policies and legislation that shape the business enabling environment and build organizational capacity of local analytical and advocacy organizations and also coordinate civil society groups and business associations to amass the political will necessary for reforms that have demonstrably high pay-offs for the Ukrainian economy and Ukrainian citizens.
