The Office of Postsecondary Education, Department of Education is seeking applications for its program “Native American-Serving Nontribal Institutions” (NASNTI) for new awards of fiscal year 2015.
The NASNTI Program provides grants to eligible institutions of higher education (IHEs) that have an undergraduate enrollment of at least 10 percent Native American students to assist such institutions to plan, develop, undertake, and carry out activities to improve and expand such institutions’ capacity to serve Native American and low-income individuals.
Award Information
The estimated average size of the award is $350,000 per year.
Priority
Projects that are designed to increase the number and proportion of high-need students who are academically prepared for, enroll in, or complete on time college, other post-secondary education, or other career and technical education.
Eligibility Criteria
- The applicant must be at least 10% Native American.
- Accredited or pre-accredited by a nationally recognized accrediting agency or association
- Legally authorized by the State in which it is located to be a junior or community college or to provide an educational program for which it awards a bachelor’s degree
- Designated as an ‘‘eligible institution’’ by demonstrating that it has:
- an enrollment of needy students as described in 34 CFR 607.3; and
- below average educational and general expenditures per full-time equivalent (FTE) undergraduate student as described in 34 CFR 607.4.
