Proposals are invited for Open Education Global Conference 2016 from researchers, practitioners, policy makers and educators to deeply explore open education and its impact on global education. This Conference takes place in Kraków, Poland 12-14 April 2016 & organized jointly by the Open Education Consortium and the AGH University of Science and Technology.
The Open Education Global Conference is the largest conference devoted exclusively to open education, attracting participants from more than 30 countries around the world. Conference participants engage with thought leaders in open education and have the opportunity to share ideas, practices and discuss issues important to the future of education worldwide.
Thematic Areas of the Conference
- Integration of Open Practices: Explores the ways that open educational practices are meeting the needs of 21st century education, including formal and informal sectors.
- Collaboration: Highlights the ways that collaboration enhances efforts in openness. Topics could provide examples of collaborations between institutions and organizations that amplified outcomes, or plans for a collaborative, open future.
- Open Education as Strategy: Focuses on the ways that open practices contribute to solving greater problems in education.
- Research to Advance Open Education: This track will include research on all aspects of open education, including usage, effectiveness, policy, learning outcomes, data management and analysis, surveys and impact studies.
- Open Education Initiatives in Europe: Each year at the Global Conference, we devote time to showcasing local and regional initiatives in open education. This year, we invite presentations that focus on European open education efforts, including emerging practices, project showcases, EU-funded programs, and national and regional initiatives.
Review Criteria of the Proposals
- Original: the proposal explores a new idea, project or issue; discusses new research; or presents new ways of considering existing information.
- Engaging: presentation format will involve the audience in some way, or has high potential to attract conference attendees by addressing needs of the community.
- Significant: the proposal raises and discusses issues important to improving the effectiveness and/or sustainability of open education efforts, and its contents can be broadly disseminated and understood.
- High Quality: claims are supported by sufficient data; claims draw upon relevant literature; and limitations are described honestly.
- Clear: the intended outcomes of the session are easily understood.
- Relevant: the proposal addresses one or more conference tracks.
How to Apply
The proposals must write in English and should be submitted through the website with the following information:
- Names, titles, and institution or organization for all presenters or panelists
- Title of session
- Goals or intended outcomes
- Description of topics and/or activities that will be covered
- Intended audience (for example, experienced open education professionals, those new to the field, administrators, general).
