REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS are invited by Increasing Access to Menstrual Hygiene Education and Resources (IAMHER).
Life-improving Ventures (LiV) requests proposals for a year-long project to enhance access to menstrual hygiene products and health information among school-going Indian girls particularly in underserved communities. The major objective of this project will be to demonstrated in one year, the scope and magnitude of quality of-life improvements brought about by the introduction of menstrual hygiene management as well as to develop a plan for sustainability of the program.
Eligibility Requirements are as follows:
Within one calendar year, LiV seeks to demonstrate the potential benefits of improved menstrual hygiene for school-aged girls in rural and/or historically under-served areas in Andhra Pradesh (AP), India through a proof-of-concept pilot project.
The ideal project proposal will:
- Demonstrate knowledge of under-served communities in AP and the menstrual hygiene resources available in such communities.
- Propose a community in which the project would take place
- Indicate steps that will be taken to develop (or maintain) strong partnership with the community of interest, and especially the educational institution(s) in said community.
- Describe actions to be taken to conduct a needs assessment for an in-depth understanding of the menstrual hygiene and other social and health needs within the community.
- Include a tentative action plan to make sanitary pads accessible and affordable for between 100 and 150 school-aged girls.
- Describe what arrangements would need to be made in order to monitor and evaluate the impact of action plan implementation.
- Include plans to conduct a sustainability assessment that will help ensure continued availability of sanitary pads for the girls.
- Include a budget for the project. Without plans for a co-branded fundraising campaign, LiV will provide no more than $1,000 in the initial contract.
