The Africa Enterprise Challenge Fund (AECF) Agribusiness Africa Window (AAW) is open to business ideas across Africa. Ideas in the fields of agribusiness, financial services and value chains across Africa and international markets are invited to make funding requests.
Eligibility Criteria
- Application can be made for an agribusiness operating or planning to operate in an African country.
- The idea should introduce an innovation and plan to do something that is not done in the applicant’s country before.
- Priority is given to a business that plan to invest or expand investments, in crop, livestock or aquaculture production, processing, packaging, marketing, or exports.
- The business ideas must have positive impact on the rural poor, delivering increased employment reduced costs and improved productivity.
- Applicant can be a financial institution planning to engage in the agricultural sector, or an information provider for farmers or agribusinesses.
Application Procedure
- Initial concept notes are accepted for evaluation. The shortlisted concept notes are forwarded for evaluation to investment committee.
- Selected concept notes are contacted for full business plan submission. The Fund manager visits the business site. The complete business plan is presented to Investment committee for project selection.
- Selected projects are awarded the fund.
