Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) Bureau of Recreation and Conservation, Pennsylvania is seeking applications from eligible entities for Recreation and Conservation Grants. Projects that advance local conservation and recreation vision and also those that implement Pennsylvania’s Comprehensive Outdoor Recreation Plan are highly encouraged to apply.
Programs –
- Community Recreation and Conservation Program – to municipalities and authorized non-profit organizations for recreation, park, trail and conservation projects.
- Land trust Program – to pre-qualified Land Trusts and Conservancies to fund projects for open space and natural areas planning and acquisition.
- Partnership Program – to statewide and regional entities that advance DCNR’s Strategic Plan, Pennsylvania’s Greenway Plan, Pennsylvania’s Statewide Outdoor Recreation Plan, Pennsylvania’s Heritage Areas Program and the Conservation Landscape work, as well as statewide and regional capacity building.
- Pynnsylvania Recreational Trails Program – to federal & state agencies, local governments, non-profit and for-profit organizations to assist with the construction, renovation and maintenance of trails and trail related facilities for both motorized and non-motorized recreational trails, the purchase or lease of equipment for trail maintenance and construction, and the development of educational materials and programs.
- Rails-to Trails Program – to county and municipal governments, prequalified Land Trusts, educational institutions and non-profit organizations established to preserve and protect abandoned railroad corridors as trails.
- Rivers Conservation Program – to address DCNR’s responsibility to serve as an advocate for Pennsylvania’s River Resources.
- Snowmobile/All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV) Program – to assist with the planning, acquisition of land, construction, renovation and maintenance of areas and facilities for snowmobile and all-terrain vehicle (ATV) use, the purchase or lease of equipment for trail construction and maintenance and the development of educational materials and programs.
- Circuit Rider Program – to initiate new programs and services for county(ies), Council of Governments and/or multi-municipal entities, that individually do not have the financial resources to hire a professional full-time staff person.
- Peer-to-Peer Program – to help municipalities improve their park, recreation and conservation services through a collaborative process.
Eligibility Criteria –
- Municipality, municipal agency, appropriate/authorized organization, pre-qualified land trusts, and for-profit enterprises are eligible to apply for grants.
