Deadline: 1 August 2014
American For Society of Primatologists (ASP) is pleased to invite applications for General Small Grant in the fields of environment and conservation. The society provides a wide variety of grants and awards. These support conservation and other primatological research projects, recognize senior levels of service and achievement in pursuit of the society’s aims, and reward promising new primatologists.
The mission of this programme is to provide information on the status of wild populations of nonhuman primates and to monitor the primate trade (with special emphasis on the bushmeat crisis) and enactment/abuse of legislation aimed at conservation of nonhuman primates.
Funding may be requested from $500 to $1500, and will be for a period of one year.
Eligibility criteria:
- Grants must have an ASP Member who will act as a sponsor. Neither the applicant nor the mentor need be members, but they must have an ASP member sponsor their grant.
- The applicant must be formally affiliated with an institution that can assure that the funds are used appropriately (e.g., Primate Center, University, Foundation or established Field Program).
- Grants must fund primate research.
- Whether the application is from a third world or species indigenous country will be used as a tie breaker. In the case of a tie, preference will go to those who have not won the award previously.
