Submit Proposals for the Snow Leopard Conservation Grant Program 2015

Researchers, educators, or conservationists from a snow leopard range country, international professionals working closely with, or hosted by, range-country counterparts, and post-graduates of any nationality pursuing higher degree and whose proposals are compatible with needs identified in the SLSS (Snow Leopard Survival Strategy) document are invited to submit proposal for the Snow Leopard Conservation Grant Program 2015. The Strategy identifies high priority conservation and research needs and guidelines for range-wide efforts to save endangered wild snow leopards.

The grant program supports conservation, education, and research on snow leopards. The program is administered by the Snow Leopard Network.

Snow Leopard Range Regions as defined by SLSS

1. HIMLY: Himalaya: Tibetan Plateau and other S. China, India, Nepal, Bhutan
2. KK/HK – Karakhorum and Hindu Kush Range of Afghanistan, Pakistan, SW China
3. CISWC – Commonwealth of Independent States and W. China: Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Xinjiang Prov. China
4. NRANG – Northern range: China Altai and Tien Shan, Mongolia, Russia

Eligibility Criteria

• Applicants can be researchers, educators, or conservationists from snow leopard range countries, international professionals working closely with range-country counterparts, and postgraduates of any nationality pursuing a higher degree whose proposals are compatible with needs identified in the Snow Leopard Survival Strategy (SLSS).
• The proposed research, conservation or education should be focused on the snow leopard range region as listed above.
• The proposed program must promote development and implementation of country action plans for snow leopard conservation.
• The proposed program must contribute to the promotion of scientific management and conservation of snow leopards, their natural prey, and their habitat.
• Proposed program must strengthen the capacity in range states for snow leopard conservation.
