All interested organizations are invited to submit proposals for South Africa Wildlife Transnational Crime Investigations under Department of State International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affair.
The goal of this programme is to minimize corruption, threatens the peace and security of fragile regions, strengthens illicit trade routes, destabilizes economies and communities that depend on wildlife for their livelihoods, and contributes to the spread of disease.
Grants may be requested up to $750,000.
Objectives:
- assist with improved communications between wildlife-related and criminal justice stakeholders in South Africa; and
- assist the government of South Africa to build strong partnerships with neighboring African countries and/or consumer countries in Asia to ensure more regular coordination and sharing of information related to wildlife trafficking matters.
Eligibility criteria:
- Be a registered U.S. or foreign non-profit organization, including non-governmental organizations, private voluntary organizations, educational institutions, and faith based and community organizations;national and provincial park boards and other parastatal entities;and for-profit companies willing to fore go profit.
- Organizations based outside of South Africa are required to identify and work with an implementing partner based in South Africa to ensure local ‘buy-in’ and sustainability.
- Have demonstrated experience working in South Africa, with the South African government, or with South African law enforcement.
- Have existing capacity or ability to develop active partnerships with organizations in South Africa and within the South African government.
