Department of Politics and International Relations is offering funding opportunity to pursue PhD Studentships in Government and Political Theory at the University of Leicester.
The successful applicants will join one of research clusters – either in Parties, Participation, and Public Opinion or Global Ethics and Political Theory. Applications from a wide range of research areas are welcomed, including Euroscepticism, comparative politics, and electoral politics (Government) and citizenship, rights, and justice (Political Theory).
The studentships will pay UK/EU tuition fees for three years and include an annual stipend (worth at least £13,590 each year) and Research Training Support Grant (worth £750 each year).
Eligibility & criteria-
- Applicants must have a first-class or high upper second-class honours degree (or equivalent qualification) in a relevant discipline and meet the University’s standard English language entry requirements. It is expected that applicants will have a relevant Masters degree or be able to show evidence that they will achieve this before October 2013.
- Studentships are only available to applicants who are eligible to pay the UK/EU tuition fee – i.e., those who are permanently resident in the UK or another EU country.
Documents Required-
- copies of all relevant diplomas, certificates, and transcripts
- international applicants must provide official copies of their entire course transcripts including explanations of the mark schemes used and, where possible, an indication of their class ranking/position in class
- if supporting documents are not in English, then officially translated versions as well as copies in the original language are required
- If applicant’s first language is not English, proof that applicant meet English language requirements
- If applicant will need a visa to study in the UK, a copy of the page of passport that gives full name, passport number, etc.
- Supporting statements from two academic referees – Applicant’s two referees must be able to comment on their suitability for research degree level study
