Applications are invited from junior post-doctors, for 1 and 2 years fellowship offered by the Max Weber Program. Candidates availing the two year fellowships will also be engaged in additional academic activities in the EUI departments, like graduate teaching. The last date to receive applications is 25 October, 2011. However, applications for self-funded fellowships can be submitted from 25 October 2011 to 25 March 2012, but they will be considered on first-come basis till there is intake capacity in the Max Weber Program.
Junior post-docs, from any country, can apply for the fellowships, provided they have received a doctorate in economics, history, law, social and political sciences, or a related field, within the last 5 years. They can submit their applications if they are desirous to advance their research before starting a job, or have just started their academic careers.
Selection for the fellowships will be made on the following basis:
- Research accomplishments and potential of the prospective fellows.
- Interests in academic career.
- Availability of the EUI faculty to provide mentorship.
Once selected, the research agendas of the fellows is promoted by encouraging them to be actively involved in the research activities of the EUI, especially the research activities related to the Max Weber Program and to the EUI Departments with which the fellows have received their affiliation.
The venue where the Max Weber Program takes shape is the beautiful Villa La Fonte. It is an excellent place that offers some of the best research facilities, along with multiple activities that aim to promote the communication skills of the fellows. It encourages fellows who are keen to take up an academic job. In fact, it has a host of teaching-training possibilities, within the EUI, Florence and abroad. The program organizes various multidisciplinary research workshops. Fellows are actively involved in organizing many of these activities themselves. Thus, it is evident that Max Weber Program is an innovative approach that helps fellows to develop intellectually and academically.
The Max Weber Program is Europe’s largest postdoctoral program in the fields of social sciences and humanities. The European Commission (DG Education and Culture) funds the program, while the European University Institute in Florence hosts it.
The last date to receive the applications is October 25, 2011. More information at this link.
