Europe Aid is inviting proposals for Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation, including Energy in Namibia. The major objective of the grant program is to reduce the vulnerability of rural population to the adverse impact of climate change through developing, testing and disseminating solutions and practices, implement innovative technologies and energy efficiency solutions for climate change adaptation and mitigation in rural areas of Namibia.
Climate Change Adaption grants are aimed at contributing to lowering the vulnerability of Namibians living in rural areas to the potential negative impacts of climate change.
Climate Change Mitigation grants are aimed at contributing to renewable energy usage and energy use efficiency in rural communities of Namibia.
The grants are divided as small and large grants for both the priority issues –
- Climate Change Adaption Small Grants– Grant amount that can be requested for 12-36 months action period is EUR50,000-EUR100,000.
- Climate Change Adaption Large Grants– Grant amount that can be requested for 24-48 months action period is EUR300,000-EUR1,000,000.
- Climate Change Mitigation Small Grants – Grant amount that can be requested for 12-36 months action period is EUR50,000-EUR100,000.
- Climate Change Mitigation Large Grants – Grant amount that can be requested for 24-48 months action period is EUR500,000-EUR1,500,000.
The grant amount should be 50%-80% of the total eligible costs of the action proposed.
Eligibility Criteria –
- Applicants must be legal persons who are one of the following – non-state actors (NSAs), private sector organizations, parastatal bodies, local authorities thereof or associations representing them, international (inter-governmental) organizations as defined by Article 43 of the Implementing Rules to the EC Financial Regulation.
- Applicants must be nationals of Namibia or be established in a Member State of the European Union. This obligation does not apply to international organizations.
- Applicants must be directly responsible for the preparation and management of the action with the co-applicant(s) and affiliated entity(ies), not acting as an intermediary.
- Applicants must be able to demonstrate to have carried out activities in/ or related to the field of Climate change Adaptation or Mitigation during the five years prior to the submission of the proposal.
- Proposed action must take place in the Rural Areas of Namibia; actions taking place in more then one country are not eligible.
