Cardiff School of English, Communication and Philosophy and Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) jointly offers funding for PhD Studentship in the fields of English, Communication and Philosophy in UK.
In CLCR most training is incorporated in the programme of Research Training Modules which constitute the MA/Diploma in Language and Communication. PhD students in the Centre will receive professional training and development throughout the 3 years of their doctoral programme. There is also a full programme of seminars and workshops for PhD students which run alongside their individual research work with their supervisors.
The studentship consists of UK/EU fees, and Doctoral Stipend matching UK Research Council National Minimum (£13,590 p.a. for 2012/13, updated each year).
Eligibility–
- Academic Criteria- Applicants must have at least an Upper Second Class Degree in English Language or a related area, or a Master’s degree in Language and Communication Research, or provide evidence of relevant equivalent research training gained elsewhere.
- Residency- Full awards (fees plus maintenance stipend) are open to UK Nationals and EU students who can satisfy UK residency requirements. To be eligible for the full award, EU Nationals must have been in the UK for at least 3 years prior to the start of the course for which they are seeking funding, including for the purposes of full-time education. EU Nationals who do not meet the above residency requirement are eligible for a fees only award, provided that they have been ordinarily resident in the EU for at least 3 years prior to the start of their proposed programme of study.
