The European Neighbourhood Policy provides for a dialogue of cultures and civilisations between the European Union and its neighbouring countries (Algeria, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Egypt, Georgia, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Moldova, Morocco, Syria, Tunisia, Ukraine).
Arts, education and other cultural activities provide opportunities for dialogue between people that may otherwise not be so disposed.
The programme of cultural activities of the Delegation of the European Union to Lebanon – 2012 calls for-
- dialogue and exchange between cultures and civilisations.
- the promotion of mutual understanding and the rapprochement between peoples through cultural and artistic exchanges.
In order to achieve these objectives, the Delegation provides for the funding of cultural activities all over the Lebanese territory. These are projects submitted by Lebanese associations or their partners from the EU and/or EU neighbouring countries to the Delegation to Lebanon.
The local associations are encouraged to find partners from the EU and/or EU neighbouring countries.
Eligibility–
- be legal persons and
- be non profit making and
- be specific types of organisations such as: non-governmental organisations, public sector operators, local authorities, and
- be nationals of a Member State of the European Union or of the Neighbourhood zone as stipulated in the basic act of the ENPI Regulation. It is highly recommended that the application or the partner in the contract be of Lebanese nationality; and
- be directly responsible for the preparation and management of the action with their partners, not acting as an intermediary.
