The global objective of this Call for Proposals is to enhance respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms in Somalia.
The specific objectives of this Call for Proposals are:
– Supporting actions on human rights and democracy issues in areas covered by EU guidelines, including on human rights dialogues, on human rights defenders, on the death penalty and on torture;
– Supporting actions on children and armed conflict, on the rights of the child, against violence against women and girls and combating all forms of discrimination against them, on International Humanitarian Law and possible future guidelines;
– Building confidence in and enhancing the reliability and transparency of democratic electoral processes, in particular through election observation.
The expected results are:
– Human Rights Dialogues are established regularly; the situation of HRDs is accurately monitored and protected; moratoriums on the death penalty and against torture are in the pipelines;
– The rights of Children are enhanced, and there is a proper monitoring mechanism of the five serious violations; the rights of women and girls are promoted and protection of civilian ensured;
– Free and fair elections are taking place and domestic electoral observations are deployed in an independent way.
