The Centre for Advanced Study Sofia (CAS Sofia) is accepting applications from scholars of social sciences and humanities outside Bulgaria for the Advanced Academia Fellowship Program 2015/16. This is an opportunity for the international scholars to work on their individual research projects in Bulgaria for maximum five months duration.
The fellows are provided a monthly stipend of EUR700 to cover living expenses, accommodation with living quarters and working space, free access to CAS library and electronic resources/database, EUR400 travel allowance and EUR100 per month research expenses.
Applications can be made for two periods
- Summer Semester – 1 March – 31 July 2015
- Winter Semester – 1 October – 28 February 2015
Eligibility Criteria
- Applicant must be non-Bulgarian citizen.
- Applicant must have completed a PhD in the fields of the humanities and social sciences.
- Applicant with international research experience (participation in projects and refereed conferences) and publications in peer-reviewed academic editions are prioritized.

Note: For Junior scholars (up to 12 years after PhD defense), two referees (scholars familiar with the applicant’s academic work) should email the recommendation to CAS.
