EPSRC and DFID jointly wants to provide fund for Research Fellowship in Energy & Climate Change in the Faculty Engineering and the Environment at the University of Southampton.
Applications are invited for the position of a Research Fellow, in the Energy and Climate Change Group within the highly rated academic unit in the Faculty Engineering and the Environment (Civil Engineering – RAE in 2008 – 2nd in the UK, with 80% of our research judged to be either “World Leading” or Internationally Excellent”) at the University of Southampton. The successful candidate will work on a collaborative interdisciplinary project that is seeking to apply novel approaches to energy for development in rural communities. The project aimed at bringing electricity to communities remote from the grid in rural East Africa, in an economically and environmentally sustainable way and is funded by EPSRC and DFID.
Eligibility–
- PhD in (Engineering, Science, Mathematics, or Operational Research).
- Practical and theoretical engineering experience in standalone energy systems and their operation in rural communities.
- Good people skills working with the general public
- Critical evaluation and interpretation, of surveys and analysis and evaluation in consultation
- Published research in top quality journals and conferences
- Experience and interest in the energy domain
