Deadline: 17 September 2015
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of the Netherlands and the UNESCO-IHE Institute for Water Education have recently launched a new project that offers fellowships to water professionals from Small Island Developing States (SIDS). The aim is to support SIDS and strengthen their capacity in the water sector to cope with the effects of climate change.
The Kingdom of the Netherlands and SIDS share immediate and long-term interests in meeting the challenges that climate change, sea level rise and flooding pose for sustainable development.
The UNESCO-IHE project will enable at least 20 water professionals to enrol in an 18-month MSc programme at UNESCO-IHE in Delft, the Netherlands, the largest international water education facility in the world. The MSc will focus on relevant topics for SIDS and includes a 6-month field research in their home country. In addition, another 50 water professionals are invited to enrol in short courses that start in 2016-17.
