The School for Advanced Research (SAR) invites women postdoctoral social-scientists in developing countries to apply for Campbell Fellowship. The one six or nine-month fellowship program supports the female candidate whose work addresses women’s economic and social well-being in her nation.
Program Goals
- To advance the scholarly careers of women social scientists from the developing world.
- To support research that identifies causes of gender inequity in the developing world.
- To support research that promotes women’s economic and social well-being.
The fellow will advance her academic career and promote women’s economic and social well-being in her country through application of her research. She will receive $4,500 per month stipend and housing and office space on the SAR campus, travel, shipping, library resource funds, health insurance, and support of a mentoring committee of established scholar-practitioners.
Research Topics (but not limited to)
- Education and socialization of girls
- Globalization and the economic status of women
- Policies and practices governing women and girls, reproduction and women’s health
- Impacts of international and civil conflict on women
- Women’s roles in resolving conflicts or sustaining civil society
- Media representations of women and the formation of ideologies of gender
- The practice and process of gender-based development
- Women in science and technology
Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants must be the nationals the developing countries that are currently eligible to borrow from the World Bank.
- Applicant must be pursuing research in one of the social sciences- anthropology, economics, education, geography, history, law, linguistics, political science, psychology, social work, or sociology, or in an interdisciplinary field that incorporates two or more of these disciplines.
- Proposed projects must have applications for promoting well-being among women and their communities.
- Applicants must be fluent in English language.
Application materials include – an abstract, a proposal, a short bibliography, curriculum vitae, a statement, and three letters of recommendation.
