Channel 16 is a website which aims to source original content and breaking updates from areas from crises around the globe. Channel 16 is looking to expand its blogger network in South Sudan, Sudan and Ethiopia. This fellowship is offered for 6 weeks mainly in June.
The main scope blogging fellowship will focus on creating and sourcing original content from the three countries.
The three Blogger fellowships come with the following responsibilities:
- Produce original content on particular issues for ch16.org (written, audio, visual)
- Source other bloggers to contribute
- Do audience outreach – promoting blog posts through relevant channels especially social media groups.
Main areas include:
- Peace and security issues
- Food security and food crisis
- Gender- women and girls in conflict
- Arms trade, arms race
- Humanitarian crisis
Identify bloggers and journalists in the particular country that can contribute content in the long run
- Serve as Country editor for Channel 16 for up to 6 weeks, including
- 2 weekly roundup posts on the issues from media and blogs
- 1 original piece per week (written, audio, video) on subject areas defined above
- Identify, feature (edit) other bloggers and journalists posts
The Blogs will be in-depth and analytical with relevant sources form the ground. Subjects will be within Ch16 lines especially humanitarian news, women rights in crisis, food security, education in crisis areas. Bloggers will be availed 500 USD for each month and after meeting the 8 blogs requirement, this will be paid pro rata.
