Echoing Green Fellow is a social entrepreneur with a breakthrough idea to address a stubborn, deeply-entrenched problem, a young person ready to build a career with impact, a conscious investor who wants to support innovative solutions, or simply someone who wants to make a difference by joining the social innovation movement, Echoing Green provides a springboard for realizing contribution to solve the world’s biggest problems.
Since our incorporation in 1987 by the leadership and investment of the leading global growth equity firm, General Atlantic, Echoing Green has provided more than 500 promising social entrepreneurs working in over forty countries with $31 million in start-up funding, customized support services, and access to our global network of champions. These social innovators have gone on to launch, and now lead, some of today’s most important social enterprises throughout the world. Others have gone on to become leaders in a variety of sectors, having been profoundly shaped by their experiences launching social enterprises.
Echoing Green’s premier program is its highly competitive global Fellowship, which provides more than $2 million in seed support to a diverse group of emerging social entrepreneurs every year. From thousands of applicants, typically less than one percent is ultimately selected to receive up to $90,000 over two years to support the launch of their new organizations.
Echoing Green’s Social Investment Council provides ongoing strategic and financial support to our robust community of change makers. With more than 100 talented, socially-conscious leaders hailing from top private sector companies, this powerful advisory board is building a global hub of Echoing Green advocates from New York City to San Francisco, and São Paulo to Hong Kong.
Echoing Green also distills and disseminates our key learning, leadership frameworks, and trends in social innovation to meaningfully contribute to our sector. For instance, the fellowship is currently researching the core attributes that successful social entrepreneurs possess, which we call the Social Entrepreneurship Intelligence Quotient (SEQ).
