The European society of Surgical Oncology (ESSO) Education Committee is offering a number of Training Fellowships to support trainees in Surgical Oncology with a mission of supporting its members in advancing the science and practice of surgical oncology for the benefit of cancer patients through a range of activities including education, research and leadership in multidisciplinary care.
Awards and Duration
The Education and Training Committee grants two types of fellowships:
- 8 standard training fellowships of 2.000 EUR- from 1 to 3 months
- 1 major training fellowship of 10.000 EUR-from 4 to 12 months
Objectives
- allow young surgeons to visit a training fellowships specialist centre outside of their own country,
- help them expand their experience and learn new techniques.
Vision
ESSO’s vision is to represent the most established cancer treatment. To this end, ESSO will develop standards of care for cancer patients through its core values, education, homogenization of skills, quality and ultimately qualification.
Eligibility Criteria
- Both European and non-European citizens can apply for the fellowship program.
- Applicants must be a specialist, trainee or junior doctor with a declared intention of specializing in a sub-specialty of surgical oncology (breast, upper GI, hepatobiliary and pancreatic, colorectal, endocrine, head and neck, thoracic, skin cancer and melanoma, gynecology, urology, sarcoma).
- Applicants must be or become ESSO members before the start date of the award.
- Applicants must be younger than 40 years of age.
- Previous Fellowship recipients will be ineligible to apply for a second award.
