Grant applications are being invited by the The Gabriel García Márquez foundation from journalists who are covering music, literature and popular culture ; a total no of 20 journalists will be selected in the two groups of 10. One group will work in the Music module, the second module in the literature and will work together in the form of popular culture.
The Grant Gabriel García Márquez Cultural Journalism, a space in which reporters from around the world will come to tell the stories of culture Caribbean, which mixes the richness of popular demonstrations in the forefront of literature and music.
The Grant opportunities is open to the reporter from all over world, interested in cultural journalism.
It will also be an opportunity to reflect on the role of cultural journalism in an era in which artists and audiences are increasingly direct communication facilitated by digital tools.
Gabriel García Márquez Scholarship cultural journalism is divided into three modules: Music, Popular Culture and Literature. All modules will be coordinated by the master of FNPI, Hector Feliciano and American journalist Jonathan Levi. Inaddition, each module will include national and international experts invited.
Modules
1) Music: from 7 to 13 January 2013 during the International Music Festival of Cartagena , with the guidance of Anne Midgette, journalist and blogger of the daily Washington Post and Diego Fischerman, journalist, music critic and blogger of Página/12 Argentina.
2) Popular culture: from 14 to 20 January 2013 , under the Pre-Carnival of Barranquilla , along with writer and teacher of FNPI, Alberto Salcedo Ramos.
3) Literature: from 21 to 27 January 2012, during the Hay Festival Cartagena , to the accompaniment of Francine Prose, author and former president of PEN American Center of the U.S. and Mario Jursich, editor of the magazine The Malpensante of Colombia.
The selected journalists have covered all tuition, airfare and accommodation during the days of the activity.
