Organization for Women Science for the Developing World (OWSDW) is the first international forum uniting women scientists from the South with the objective of strengthening their role in the development process and promoting their representation in scientific and technological leadership.

OWSDW Prizes have been established to recognize women scientists working and living in developing countries who have made significant contributions to the advancement of scientific knowledge. Postgraduate guidance Fellowships for Women Scientists on or after Sub-Saharan Africa and Least Developed Countries (LDC) at Centres of Excellence in the South. The Fellowship is obtainable to women scientists to follow postgraduate explore in a field of the natural sciences. Submission is being accepted for the OWSDW Postgraduate Training Fellowships for Women Scientists from Sub-Saharan Africa and the Least Developed Countries (LDCs) at Centres of Excellence in the South.
The OWSDW fellowship is awarded to women scientists from Sub-Saharan Africa and Least Developed Countries (LDCs) to pursue a PhD at a centre of excellence in the South in a field of the natural sciences.
Following recent discussions with donors, earlier restrictions that limited eligible research projects to those in the basic sciences have been dropped. Therefore, applications can now be accepted from female scientists in all branches of the natural sciences.
At the close of the Fourth General Assembly of the Organization for Women in Science for the Developing World (OWSDW) [formerly Third World Organization for Women in Science (TWOWS) held in Beijing, China, 27-30 June 2010, those present issued the following statement on behalf of the organization’s more than 3,000 women members and women scientists everywhere.
OWSDW has developed a range of activities to fulfill its objectives and is in the process of developing a number of programs for 2011-12, in line with its Strategic Plan.
