The University of Freiburg, Germany invites fellowship applications from international candidates eligible for the FRIAS (Freiburg Institute for Advanced Studies) COFUND Fellowship Program (FCFP). The fellowship program awards around 20 incoming and reintegration junior and senior fellows from all disciplines an opportunity to spend three to 24 months working on their own research project at the FRIAS.
Junior Fellowships for candidates who have completed PhD and have initial one-six years post-doctoral experience – to conduct 12-24 months fellowships between 1 September 2015 to 30 September 2016/17.
Senior Fellowships for candidates who have completed PhD and have minimum of six years post-doctoral experience – to conduct 3-12 months fellowships between 1 September 2015 to 30 September 2016.
Each fellow will receive a mobility allowance and a research cost contribution (theoretical sciences: up to 450 € per month, experimental sciences: up to 1.050 € per month). Fellows without a work contract at their home institution will obtain an internationally attractive salary. Junior fellows will be provided mentoring program for their career development. The fellows will be provided modern office space and an up-to-date infrastructure. Accommodation is available through the university guest house and additional centrally located apartments. Fellows have full access to all library services from one of the leading German university libraries. Special attention is given to fellows who plan to come to Freiburg together with their families.
Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants must be in possession of a doctoral degree at the time of the application deadline meeting the eligibility for junior and senior fellowships scheme as mentioned above.
- Applicants can be from any country besides Germany with a condition that s/he had not carried out her/his main activity (work/study, etc.) or had their main residence in Germany for more than total 12 months during the 3-year period to the deadline (15 October 2014).
- The English in which the proposal is written must meet the standards of Academic English in international research.
- The larger field of the applicant’s research project must be represented at the University of Freiburg.
- Applicants must have at least 3 publications since 1 Jaunuary 2012 in Web of Knowledge (Thomson Reuters) for Junior Fellows Natural Sciences & in peer-reviewed, internationally recognized journals or chapters in eer-reviewed edited volumes, or monographs (counting twice) for Junior Fellows Humanities and Social Sciences.
- Applicants must have at least 10 publications since 1 January 2010 in Web of Knowledge (Thomson Reuters) for Senior Fellows Natural Sciences & in peer-reviewed, internationally recognized journals or chapters in peer-reviewed edited volumes, or monographs (counting twice) for Senior Fellows Humanities and Social Sciences.
- Applicants must have undertaken at least one academic stay of minimally two months duration abroad during the undergraduate, graduate, doctoral or postdoctoral phase for junior scheme and applicant must have spent at least two international research stays (each of at least two months duration) at international institutions during or after the doctoral phase for senior scheme.
