The Alexander von Humboldt Foundation is seeking applications from postdoctoral researchers and experienced researchers for Georg Forster Research Fellowships (HERMES). The fellowships provide successful applicants’ entry to Germany to work on a research project of choice together with a host and collaborative partner.
The program covers a monthly fellowship of 2,650 EUR for postdoctoral researchers (doctorate completed within the last four years) or 3,150 EUR for experienced researchers (doctorate completed within the last 12 years). As many as 80 Georg Forster Research Fellowships can be granted annually.
Alexander von Humboldt (1769-1859) was a nature researcher and explorer, universal genius and cosmopolitan, scientist and patron. The Foundation promotes academic cooperation between excellent scientists and scholars from abroad and from Germany.
Eligible Criteria
- Researchers from developing countries are eligible to apply.
- Participant should intend to carry out long-term research of own choice (6 to 24 months) at a research institution in Germany together with an academic host.
