The Global Spotlight at the University of Minnesota is currently seeking proposals for an all-University grant program for faculty and graduate/professional students to promote major international research and scholarly initiatives with global visibility. The focus of the program in the 2010-2012 biennium is the region of Latin America and the Caribbean and/or the issue of the Impact of Urbanization in a global context. The two themes need not be related.
The Global Spotlight is the Global Programs and Strategy Alliance’s initiative to support and highlight international scholarly initiatives at the University.

- International Research Seed Grants
Graduate and Professional Students:
- Doctoral Dissertation International Research Grants (post-preliminary oral exam students)
- Master’s, Professional, or Doctoral (pre-preliminary oral exam students) International Research Grants
Program Goals
- Highlight existing strengths of the University
- Build on cross-border and cross-disciplinary relationships
- Educate and inform the University and local community
- Identify and provide funding for targeted research and other scholarly initiatives
- Increase the University’s visibility and stature around the world
