Legacy is pleased to announce that our highly successful Legislative Fellows Program (LFP-MENA)will again take place in 2012-2014. This two-way citizen exchange program is a capacity building and professional development initiative that develops organizational and leadership skills, builds lasting relationships and partnerships, and increases cooperation among professionals and organizations that serve civil society development in Egypt, Morocco, Kuwait, Oman and the US.
The Legislative Fellows Program (LFP) is sponsored by the United States Department of State, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, and administered by Legacy International in partnership with the U.S. Association of Former Members of Congress (US FMC). Established in 1979, Legacy International is a U.S.-based non-governmental organization dedicated to strengthening the civilsociety and generating citizen participation worldwide through professional training and internships, training of trainers, citizen exchanges, consultation services, and local projects.
The Issues and themes covered under this opportunity are public service, social development, government transparency, and citizen participation.
Eligiblity:-
- A resident and citizen of Egypt, Kuwait, Morocco, Oman, or Tunisia
- Between 25 and 38 years of age
- Fluent in English (spoken and written)
- Have some professional or educational experience in one or more of the following area: policy
- development, legislation, service andlor volunteer work, civil society organizations,
- community activism, labor relations or law, government administration, elections, voter
- education, social innovation and activism.
- Preference will be given to candidates who have NOT previously traveled to the U.S. on a
- government-sponsored exchange program.
