NIAS is seeking applications for the Regular NIAS Fellowships 2012/13 for the Dutch scholars. The fellowship is awarded to outstanding researchers and senior scholars working in the fields of humanities and social sciences who have made a notable contribution to their field. Researchers proposing an interdisciplinary project are usually given preference for award of fellowship. Projects closely related to an already externally funded project are also given the preference.
In the years 2012/13/14 NIAS specially welcomes projects that are related to the following topics:
Eligibility and Selection Criteria
At least 3 years of post-Ph.D. degree academic experience is a prerequisite for eligibility. Scholarly achievements, obtained grants and awards, and reputation and quality of publications are aspects considered in the evaluation process. Moreover, the added value of the proposed project for the Dutch scientific community is an important criterion for selection.
Applications by former NIAS Fellows and scholars at the end of their career will be given low priority.

NIAS has a diversity policy with regard to gender, age, and geographic origin.
Fellowships at NIAS are residential fellowships. Regular fellowships are in principle awarded for advanced research during a full academic year, running from 1 September till 30 June, or for one semester, i.e. from 1 September to 31 January or 1 February to 30 June.
NIAS does not provide fellowships for training programmes or educational purposes. Nor does it offer courses, or financial support to conduct research elsewhere.
A NIAS Fellow affiliated with a Dutch university is entitled to a replacement subsidy for teaching duties. A NIAS Fellow from outside the Netherlands is entitled to a stipend. For an overview of all the facilities offered to a NIAS Fellow see Facilities for Fellows.
Facilities for Fellows
Fellowships at NIAS are residential fellowships. The NIAS Fellow will be allotted an office in the main building with a personal computer and internet connection, and be entitled to the use of the library service and a limited amount of support.
