The Netherlands Organisation for International Cooperation in Higher Education (NUFFIC) is seeking applications for the fellowships under Netherlands Fellowship Programme (NFP). The fellowships are available for two short training courses that will be conducted by The Hague Academy for Local Governance. The NFP fellowship programmes aim to promote capacity building within organizations in 60 developing countries. Training and education is provided to the mid-career staff members of different organizations within these countries with the help of NFP programmes.
The two short training courses, for which applications are sought, include:
- Decentralisation, Democratisation and Development Course
- Citizen Participation and Accountability Course
Decentralisation, Democratisation and Development Course (starting 19 March 2012)
This two-week training course focuses on how to design, implement and support effective decentralisation strategies in order to strengthen processes of governance and development from the bottom up.
– Learning Objectives
This course will help you:
-> define your own role and responsibilities in participation processes as well as the role of your partners;
-> specify the conditions for successful participation projects;
-> apply tools for communication with citizens, NGOs and other stakeholders;
-> identify the do’s and don’ts of citizen participation and accountability processes;
Citizen Participation and Accountability Course (starting 16 April 2012)
Key questions to be discussed in this two-week innovative training course include: How can municipalities increase accountability towards their citizens? And how can they benefit from involving citizens and organisations in a smart way?
– Learning Objectives
This course will help you:
-> define your own role and responsibilities in participation processes as well as the role of your partners;
-> specify the conditions for successful participation projects;
-> apply tools for communication with citizens, NGOs and other stakeholders;
-> identify the do’s and don’ts of citizen participation and accountability processes;
After successful completion of these courses you will receive a certificate of The Hague Academy for Local Governance.
