The Wageningen UR Centre for Development Innovation (CDI) yearly conducts a number of short-term training courses for the development of professionals worldwide. Most of these fellowship courses are open for the Netherlands Fellowship Program (NFP) to working professionals who are the citizen of and are working in the NFP country.
NFP seeks to promote capacity building within organisations in by providing training and education through fellowships for professionals. The overall aim of NFP is to help increase both the number and the competencies of skilled staff at a wide range of governmental and non-governmental organizations.
Interested individuals belonging to and working in NFP countries who meet the eligibility criteria for the course must submit applications to both CDI and NFP.
The fellowship will be distributed such that:
- 50% of the budget is for applications from Sub Sahara Africa.
- 50% of fellowships has to be awarded to female applicants.
NFP Country List –
The countries have been classified into two categories (I and II). Category I countries are priority countries and will receive more fellowships.
- Category I (Priority countries) – Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Benin, Bhutan, Burundi, Colombia, Djibouti, Ethiopia, Ghana, India, Indonesia, Kenya, Mali, Mozambique, Myanmar, Nigeria, Palestinian Territories, Rwanda, Somalia, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Vietnam, Yemen
- Category II – Albania, Armenia, Bolivia, Burkina Faso, Cambodia, Cuba, Congo DR, Egypt, Eritrea, Georgia, Guatemala, Jordan, Macedonia, Mongolia, Nepal, Nicaragua, Pakistan, Peru, Philippines, Senegal, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Surinam, Thailand, Zambia, Zimbabwe
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible, applicant:
- Must be a professional and national of, and working and living in one of the countries on the NFP country list.
- Must be nominated by their employer and there should be a clear need for training within the context of the organization.
- must have an official and valid passport
- must not receive more than one fellowship for courses that take place at the same time
- must have a government statement that meets the requirements of the country in which the employer is established (if applicable)
- must have at least a B.Sc.-level (or equivalent) and a minimum of three years of relevant work experience
- must be proficient in English language.
How to apply?
- Applicants must submit application to Wageningen UR and NFP both to secure seat for the course and fellowship to participate in the course.
- The application must be submitted online through the candidate registration form before the fellowship application deadline.
- Applicants also need to upload (in PDF):
- a copy of a valid passport or an official document of identification in your country
- a statement from your employer
- a statement from your government (if applicable for your country)
