The Health Care For All (HCFA) is seeking masters-level students to join their new paid Public Health Fellowship program.
HCFA is one of the most dynamic state-based consumer health advocacy organization. The organization seeks to create a consumer-centered health care system that provides comprehensive, affordable, accessible, culturally-competent, high-quality care for everyone, especially the most vulnerable among us. The work focuses on ensuring access to high quality health care through effective consumer engagement, reducing health disparities, improving health care quality, improving access to and enrollment in health insurance, and advocating for more consumer-centered policies across the Commonwealth.
Fellowship Programmes
The fellows take a lead role in consumer engagement projects including:
- Patient and Family Advisory Council (PFAC) Program to strengthen the voice of patients and family members at hospitals across the state
- program to initiate more meaningful patient and family involvement in research initiatives statewide thorough our contract with the Patient Centered Outcomes Research Institute
- Transparency Initiative to help state agencies better align their own transparency efforts with the needs of consumers
- Training Programs to help consumers take action around their options for health coverage
Stipend Paid
The organization seeks to select 3-4 Fellows to work this academic year, with minimum work hours of 15/hours week. Fellows are paid at an hourly rate of $15/hour. HCFA also welcomes the opportunity to combine the work of the Fellowship with Academic Program requirements, including collection of data for Masters Projects.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicant must have
- Enrollment in a current Masters or MPH program focused on health education, communications or policy
- Strong communication skills (oral and written)
- Familiarity with medical/public health literature
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, combined with initiative, creativity flexibility and a sense of humor
- Ability to work collaboratively and independently
- Passionate commitment to Health Care For All’s mission, vision and strategic direction; desire to work with people from different cultural backgrounds and an appreciation for connecting community members to HCFA’s work
