The Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) invites beginning investigators and clinicians who are in the early phase of their career but no longer under research mentoring to apply for the ACSBI (American Cancer Society international fellowships for beginning investigators) Fellowship program. The 12 month international fellowship aimed at supporting the promotion of cancer control in developing countries offers the fellows total US$50,000 for the duration of fellowship. The projects that benefit the low-and middle-income countries through epidemiology, cancer control and other areas of cancer research are highly encouraged to apply.
Preference will be given to research investigators, clinician scientist, epidemiologists, public health professionals whose project potentially benefits low- and middle-income countries.
Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants must be a beginning investigator or clinician in the early stages of their independent investigator career and possessing a terminal, advanced degree.
- Applicants must be in the early phases of their career and no longer under research mentoring.
- Applicants must hold an academic university or hospital position with an explicit commitment to return to the home institute.
- Applicants must conduct the research project at not-for-profit institutions.
- Fellowships will not be granted to candidates who are already physically present at the proposed host institute whilst their applications are under consideration.
