The Convention on the Rights of the Child, a network of 80 international and national NGOs working to facilitate the implementation of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child has developed a useful advocacy toolkit for those campaigning for a communications procedure under the Convention on the Rights of the Child.
What is a communications procedure?
“A communications or complaints procedure allows individuals, groups or their representatives who claim that their rights have been violated by a State that is party to an international human rights Convention or Covenant to bring a complaint before the relevant ‘treaty body’ or Committee, provided that the State has recognised the competence of the Committee to receive such complaints.”
The toolkit has information about the campaign, lists of campaigning and lobbying activities that can be undertake at national level, questions and answers, a glossary and also a feedback form to further improve the toolkit.
The toolkit can be downloaded from this link.
