The Office to Monitor and Combat Trafficking in Persons at the US State Department has released the 2010 Trafficking in Persons Report. The release coincides with the tenth anniversary of efforts launched in 2000 to combat various forms of modern slavery including forced labor, sex trafficking, bonded labor, debt bondage among migrant laborers, involuntary domestic servitude, forced child labor, child soldiers and child sex trafficking.
The report is crucial not only to examine the progress made to reduce human trafficking, but it also services as a mechanism to determine policies and funding to support civil society and governments to take action in this direction. The State Department would also be setting up its funding programs based on the findings of the report.
