Fundraising is one of the most important tasks for an NGO. Donors’ funding will ensure that your planned activities take place and that your organisation can pursue its main long-term goals. As such, to select the right candidates for a fundraising team is of utter importance. The main aim of this short guide is to advice NGO members on how to advertise a fundraising job vacancy, how to shortlist and select the right candidates, and how to manage the created team to improve the overall performance of the organisation.
Before looking for a new member of staff, remember that recruiting is about understanding people’s motivations. You will find the perfect match for your organisation only if you make the effort to understand what the candidates want, what their dreams are and also how your organisation could help them fulfilling their career’s expectations.
How to recruit Your Fundraising Officer
This first section will help you understanding what are the main qualities of a fundraiser, how and where you should look for a new fundraiser, how to assess potential candidates to select the right one and how to introduce the new member of staff to the activities of the organisation and its other members to enable the selected candidate to give a sound performance.

Re: Request for joint venture for the children of TRIBAL and backward communities,
who are in vulnerable situations.
We take the opportunity to introduce ourselves as a development agency (NGO), whose aim is to fight poverty and injustice. Since 2002, we are trying to work with the poor and marginalized tribal people of West Bengal and Jharkhand of India, almost without any fund. We are working with local communities with their children, who are in vulnerable situations.
We are reaching out with the target groups, through SHGs (Self-Help Groups) of which, mostly are poor and marginalized, belong to tribal communities, supporting them in their struggle to access their rights to food, shelter, education, healthcare and human security and helping them have their voice in the development decisions affecting their lives and livelihood.
As we are working with the Tribal and other backward communities at the Purulia and East Singhbhum districts, under the State of West Bengal & Jharkhand respectively, that is why, we would like to propose the welfare/sponsorship program for the children and their families as well as their communities for the said areas.
We look forward to hear from your end.

I am running a 10-year old local NGO engaged in rehabilitation – especially in education and rural infrastructure – in northern Uganda which region was badily devastated by 20 years of civil war in the region. Our main problem is how to raise funds on a massive scale to help accelerate the rehabilitiation of this region to enable it CATCH UP with the rest of the country in terms of development and progress.
I therefore find your ideas very ideal in our situation. Yournotes broaden our fundraising skills and personnel base to tackle this dounting task. I am sure it is not too late to put such ideas into maximum use.
