A guide entitled ‘Nonprofit Fundraising A Guide to New Trends and Resources’ was developed by United Network of Young Peacebuilders, which is an international network of young individuals and youth organizations that work together with the aim of establishing peaceful societies. The guide is edited by Stephanie Moy and Sarah de Morant. The guide provides information about the traditional as well as new trends in raising funds, and utilization of innovative resources for fundraising activities.
The guide highlights the importance of using new methods to raise funds that should be employed by NGOs to build their fundraising capacity. Though there is a steady increase in the number of donors across the world, and there has been a monumental increase in the amount donated for various development works, yet most of the NGOs are still short of funds, and face economic issues while implementing their development programs. The primary cause of this issue is the sudden mushrooming of NGOs across the world. The guide may prove to be beneficial to the NGOs, as it directs them how to look out for new and innovative methods of raising funds.
The guide provides comprehensive information on the traditional sources of funds that include Foundations and individual philanthropists. It directs the NGOs as to how to approach various Foundations, including the US Foundations and the European Foundations. It explains the profile of the new age philanthropists and how the NGOs should approach them for funds, with special emphasis on individual philanthropy in the Netherlands. The guide also determines the effect of economic crisis on the fundraising activities. It clearly points out the importance of creative self-help and gives information about various new resources that can be used to raise funds, including online funding.
