How to write a Proposal for PRM's Call for Proposal under GBV

The 2009 “NGO Programs Targeting the Prevention Of and Response To Gender-Based Violence (GBV), Including Sexual Abuse and Exploitation (SEA)” is a highly competitive call for proposals launched by the Bureau of Population, Refugee and Migration (PRM) under the United States Department of State. Although such calls are regular and many organizations, both international as well as local, actively participate in it and even win the expected funding, many small NGOs are left out just for the reason that they do not have the skills to write a proposal to apply for this grant opportunity. Here we will cover proposal writing for specific project like this for PRM. Here we are presenting a simple explanation that will help these NGOs to develop the proposal and submit it for possible grant funding.

Step 1:

The first step is to read the official Funding Announcement of the grant opportunity. A summarized version is available here. After getting the initial idea of the nature of funding, you need to visit the original link where the information was posted officially at the website of State Department. Take note of the deadline and start planning your schedule. If it is feasible to develop the proposal within the stipulated time, then you can start proceeding to the next step.

Step 2:

After ensuring that the organization is eligible to apply and taking note of all the issues, you need to click on the link that gives extensive information about the NGO Guidelines. Although all the other guidelines need to carefully read and understood, we will discuss only about the proposal format here. Please note that this donor is stringent about the proposal format and only the recommended format has to be followed while developing the proposal.
