Section P: In this section, the applicant needs to select one of the following regarding their proposed project:
- If the proposal is for piloting a new approach, describe the need for the new approach in 500 words or less.
Example 1: The approaches chosen by our organization are considered to be best practices as they have worked successfully in similar locations throughout the world. These methods and actions have not been used in our region and with our community in the past. To ensure that we are engaging in processes that have led to significant positive change in other locations, the ABC Organization went through an extensive investigative process to locate and analyze actions that would be most likely to work with our community members.
Parents, teachers, and community leaders have seen the rise in violence against school aged girls occur in the past several years and recognize that some actions need to occur immediately to reduce and eliminate this element from their community. Even though the approaches that will be used in our project are not considered new, they are new for our community and us.
- If the proposal is for up-scaling a promising or already proven approach in 500 words or less.
Example 2: Through prior initiatives to improve working conditions for women working in garment factories in X country, the XYZ Foundation has identified the need to respond to sexual harassment and violence in the workplace. Several missing elements have been uncovered as possible reasons why sexual harassment occurs in the workplace including the lack of anti-harassment, violence prevention and reduction systems in factories.
Through lessons learned working with garment factories in India over the past several years, we are looking forward to implementing best practices that have proven to be successful in more challenging workplace environments. This work involves influencing company leadership as well as advocating the local and national legislators to clarify relevant laws. Successful approaches will be replicated so that cultural change regarding sexual harassment and violence in the workplace issues can be addressed and eradicated more rapidly.
