2016-2017 Research Associate Program – Five College Women’s Studies Research Center

Deadline: 15 February 2016

The Five College Women’s Studies Research Center is inviting research associates from all over the world to support them and enable them an environment to carry out their research work. Located in a geographic area with one of the largest concentrations of scholars dedicated to feminist scholarship and teaching in the world, the Five College Women’s Studies Research Center encourages engaged, critical feminist scholarship from diverse perspectives.

The Five College Women’s Studies Research Center was founded in 1991 as a site for international scholarly activity on issues relating to women and gender.  It is supported by the Five College consortium of Amherst, Hampshire, Mount Holyoke and Smith Colleges and the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Since 1966, the five institutions have been noted for their cooperation and innovation in higher education and boast one of the largest concentrations of women’s and gender studies scholars anywhere in the world.

Five Colleges, Incorporated promotes and administers long-term forms of cooperation that benefit faculty and staff members and students. These include:

  • Shared use of educational and cultural resources and facilities, including a joint automated library system, open cross registration, and open theater auditions;
  • Joint departments and programs;
  • Inter-campus transportation.

Five Colleges, Incorporated, sustains and enriches the excellence of its members — Amherst, Hampshire, Mount Holyoke, and Smith colleges and the University of Massachusetts Amherst — through academic and administrative collaboration. The consortium facilitates intellectual communities and broad curricular and cocurricular offerings; affording learning, research, performance and social opportunities that complement the distinctive qualities of each institution.
