Women from developing countries enrolled in select universities in Latin America are invited to apply for the Margaret McNamara Memorial Fund (MMMF).
Students enrolled in one of the following universities in Latin America are eligible to apply for the scholarship grant – University of La Plata (Argentina), Javeriana University (Colombia), Los Andes University (Colombia), National University of Colombia (Colombia), Iberoamericana University (México), and Catholic University of Perú (Perú).
Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants must be women from the developing countries currently enrolled in above mentioned select universities in Latin America.
- Applicants must have a record of service (paid and/or volunteer) to women and children in the developing world.
- Applicants must demonstrate a commitment to improve the lives of women and children in the developing world through field of study and/or topic of research.
- Applicants must be committed to return to home country or any other developing country to work for the improvement of the lives of women and children within two years of completing the degree.
- Applicants must demonstrate financial need via the financial information.
- Applicants must be able to demonstrate good academic performance at the university where she is registered.
- Applicants must be at least 25 years of age by the deadline.
- Applicant cannot be an immediate or extended family member of any World Bank Group, IMF or Inter-American Development Bank (IADB) staff member or their spouse.
- Applicants must not have received a MMMF grant in any prior year.
Application materials include – copy of passport picture page, copy of visa/study permit (if foreign national), copy of official transcripts from current university, a progress report from a supervising professor with institutional seal and Registrar’s signature if the program is for research and without grades, official confirmation of registration in the academic institution for current semester with institutional seal and Registrar’s signature, two completed recommendation forms (one from a professor of present institution, second from a former professor/supervisor from applicant’s country, or other individuals who have known her for at least two semesters).
