The Southeast Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture (SEARCA) invites grant proposals for ASFN (ASEAN Social Forestry Network) Strategic Response Fund. Projects that react to evolving areas of strategic importance in the interrelated issues of food insecurity, poverty and climate change in the region are to be forwarded. Grant request can be made for single or multi-country projects.
Grant allocation
- Up to US$15,000 for Single Country Projects
- Up to US$30,000 for multi-country projects
- Up to US$2,000 – Scholarship Training Grants
Project can be (both single-and multi-country)
- Quick turn-around studies – researchers to support decision-making through fast methods that provide answers to particular questions.
- Exploratory reviews – research on a new issue/topic or for an emerging problem that has not been clearly defined yet.
- Meta-analysis/Analytical studies and think pieces – examining previous studies’ results to identify pattern or other interesting relationships.
- Study tours
- Dialogues/Roundtable discussions – bringing together experts, practitioners and decision-makers to examine and explore a development concern in a collaborative setting.
Eligibility Criteria
- Proposed project must react to evolving areas of strategic importance in interrelated issues of food insecurity, poverty and climate change in the region.
- Proposed project must be timely and should support in-country initiatives that will enable the ASEAN Member State’s (AMS) Focal Point to quickly respond to emerging issues and challenges, and increase its ability to articulate policy recommendations and directions.
- List of eligible countries – Brunei, Burma, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, East-Timor, Vietnam.
Complete application includes – letter of request, proposal, and cover page. The proposal includes – introduction, research project, budget and timeline, sustainability plan and appendices (bibliography, endorsement letter, and organizational profile of proposed implementing organization/partner).
Note: Applications must be submitted via email. Relevant documents such as maps, management plans, pictures, and endorsements must be digitally scanned and sent through email.
