The Australia-Thailand Institute (ATI) invites applications for Artist-in-Residency Program to supports artists with innovative arts programs that create enduring ties between people and organizations in Thailand and Australia.
Funding available under artist-in-residency program 2015 is AUD $10,000. It is anticipated this will fund one full-time artist-in-residency for a period of 4-12 weeks. ATI funding may be used to cover travelling costs, medical costs, accommodation costs, living expenses, in-country transport costs, communications costs, consumables, fees, freight, and materials.

- To strengthen people-to-people linkages through cultural exchanges and creative collaboration.
- To promote Australia in Thailand, and Thailand in Australia, through arts and culture.
- To reinforce Australia’s standing as a stable, sophisticated, multicultural and creative nation with a rich and diverse culture.
- Promote Thailand as a sophisticated, innovative and creative nation with deep cultural roots.
About ATI
The Australia-Thailand Institute (ATI) was established in 2005 to advise the Australian Government, through the Minister for Foreign Affairs, on broadening and deepening the relationship between Australia and Thailand and to undertake and support programs that strengthen next generation links between Australia and Thailand.
Eligibility Information
- The ATI’s artist-in-residency program is open to both Thai artists from Thailand to undertake a project in Australia and Australian artists living in Australia for a project in Thailand.
- Applicants must be over the age of 18, with a proven art practice of at least three years.
- The residency can include professional development via workshops, forums, collaborations, and/or the development, completion and presentation of a new body of work.
To apply applicants must submit an online grant submission to the ATI. Applicants should explain how their proposed project aligns with the ATI artist-in-residency program goals and objectives.
