Deadline: 30 November 2014
The British Ornithologists’ Union (BOU) is accepting small research grants applications from both amateurs and professionals anywhere in the world to conduct scientific studies with clear aims and objectives. The research proposal must have clearly stated hypotheses along with clearly explained research methods. The research grants are aimed at funding small projects in their entirety or part-funding small-to-medium sized projects.
Competent applicants with clearly justified budget and projects feasible in terms of time and resources will be funded. Successful proposals will combine the applicant’s development of skills that will be useful for their future career in ornithology with sound science. Maximum grant amount per project is £1000 while exceptional application may receive up to £2000.
Eligibility Criteria
- If the applicant is PhD candidate, the project must be a stand-alone element and not the wider research program (i.e. forming one chapter or paper, rather than contributing to the entire thesis).
- The research costs applied should not be fully supported by bench fees or fieldwork elements within a studentship or research council award.
- Research can be undertaken on any bird species.
- The research must be of high scientific quality; interesting, innovative or a potentially high impact piece of work.
Note: Application must be made via email before deadline.
