The United States Agency for Development (USAID) in Philippines invites concept papers from eligible entities for the Diaspora Engagement to Rebuild Livelihoods after Typhoon Haiyan/Yolanda in the Philippines.
USAID/Philippines accepts proposals for public-private alliances that mobilize human and financial resources from the Diaspora to address post-disaster development challenges faced by communities directly impacted by Typhoon Haiyan/Yoland. USAID expects to receive alliance proposals that leverage private sector resources at a ratio of at least 1:1.
Objectives:
- Rebuild livelihoods and support micro-finance in communities directly impacted by Typhoon Haiyan/Yolanda
- Improve the preparedness of vulnerable communities to deal with future natural disasters in the Philippines
Grant application can be made in between $250,000 to $1 million to implement the project for a period of 12 to 24 months. Preference is given to alliances that include private sector partners who demonstrate a commitment to areas directly impacted by Typhoon Haiyan/Yolanda and a recognized business interest in the proposed concept.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Alliances should address at least one of the following objectives – Entrepreneurship; and Philanthropy.
- Innovative, cost-effective, private sector driven concepts are highly prioritized.
- The proposal should be made on public-private alliances involving the Filipino American Society and other stakeholders, including local and multinational corporations, foundations, NGOs, academic institutions and other organizations, that are committed to rebuilding communities in the Philippines.
- Alliances must demonstrate a commitment to areas directly impacted by Typhoon Haiyan/Yolanda and a recognized business interest in the proposed concept.
Applicants must follow the Concept Paper instructions set forth in the Global Development Alliance Annual Program Statement (GDA APS) and submit the concept papers to USAID/Asia Bureau using the concept paper template by the deadline.
