Foundation Ensemble, the French agency announces its call for proposals every year around December-January. There are different calls for different countries and its areas of focus include Sustainable agriculture, Sustainable fishing, Land and marine biodiversity conservation, Sustainable technologies.
The Foundation focuses on projects that support local communities bring about effective and long-lasting solutions to the world’s problems.
Types of Calls
- Focus Sector Call – Accepting applications on four different intervention areas for five focus countries (Mozambique, Cambodia, Laos, Ecuador and Peru) and the coastal areas of some West African countries (Mauritania, Senegal, Gambia and Cape Verde). Grant request can be made for maximum € 50,000 per year for two to four years project. The requested grant should not exceed 50% of the total project budget.
- Special Call on Sustainable Management of Artisanal Fisheries in Mozambique. Grant may range between € 100,000 and € 200,000 for two to three years. This contribution can be up to 60% of the total project budget.
- Small Grants Call on Threatened Animal Species open for organizations around the world. Grant request can be made for up to € 15,000 for one to two years. The requested grant should not exceed 50% of the total project budget.

- Proposed project must
- Be in line with national strategy in the country of intervention; participatory and partnership-based delivering sustainable and measurable results based on appropriate concrete action.
- Promote a rights-based approach and encourage shared responsibility between all stakeholders.
- Encourage an entrepreneurial approach and the development of local businesses that create jobs and ensure sustainability and replication.
